Welcome to my site!
All of the wood carvings you see here are done with Tupelo wood and painted with Acrylics. My original carvings are actual size of the subject. I try to do as much research as I can before I start on a project so it will be as true to life as possible. Things like feather detail and the attitude of the bird are very important elements to work out before I start. To carve a realistic bird takes a lot of patience and time but is very rewarding when done right. I have been a Wildfowl carver for 19yrs and I love every minute of it.
When I am not carving I like to break out the watercolors. I learned to paint with watercolors way back in High School. Unlike wood carving, watercolor moves at a faster pace. The way the paint reacts to the water can produce effects that are not possible in other mediums. The subjects in my paintings are usually old barns, windmills, and old farm trucks. I’m sure it has something to do with being raised on a farm.
I hope you enjoy visiting my site and that you will come back to see what’s around the bend. If you would like to commission a carving or painting please send me an E-mail with a contact number and I will be more than happy to give you a call. Also, if you have any questions about my art or just want to send me a comment. I would love to hear from you.
